Arsenal 1-0 Qarabag
Qarabag FC where in the spotlight again as Arsenal looked to complete their Europa League group stage campaign with another win and with it the top position. Thus ensuring some sort of easier game in the next stage, to be honest finding anything easier than the outfit from Lichtenstein wouldn't be easy.
The team news saw the welcome return of Laurent Koscielny, a real boost for a defence that has looked a bit creaky of late, and the Lost Boy Ozil getting a start a long with a few youngsters. Sadly Smith Rowe who had been the pick of the Arsenal players in this tournament so far this season missed out with a late injury.
Arsenal: Martinez, Jenkinson, Sokratis, Koscielny, Maitland-Niles, Willock, Elneny, Ozil, Nketiah, Saka, Lacazette
This is going to be very quick.... because A) Qarabag are rubbish and B)Nothing much happened.
The main pointers...
Smallest crowd ever at the Emirates
Not surprising, qualification already assured, it was cold, midweek fodder.
Lacazette gets the winner in 16th minute...
Nketiah won the ball back, Ozil fed Lacazette in the box, he took a couple of touches, nudged it wide, then lashed the ball home across the keeper.
Kids did alright...
Sako looks like a real find playing on the left, Maitland Niles looked comfortable, Nketiah had a goal disallowed, and Carl Jenkinson was living the dream one more time.
Some dude got all political...
The Qarabag players unhappy.
And that was that... lets hope Arsenal never have to play this sort of opposition again!
(top four please!).
Nobody smashed it and nobody trashed it!
Next up a tricky game away at the Saints!
